Airabin Justin

AJ served as the Defensive Coordinator the past two years at Horizon High School. As a team Horizon made an Open Division appearance following one of the school’s best seasons in school history. Previous to Horizon AJ was Head Football Coach at North Canyon High School, and is currently the head track coach. He also was the Defensive Coordinator at Boulder Creek, Chaparral and DB coach at Liberty High School. AJ Currently trains a lot of Defensive Backs and other athletes in all sports from position specific training  (more…)

Jason Luft

Jason N Luft comes from the great state of Nebraska where he attended The University of Nebraska. While getting his degree in Health and Physical Education he was a volunteer JV and Varsity football coach for Kearney High School in Kearney from 2009 – 2012.  After graduating Jason moved to Omaha Nebraska where also coached for the year of 2013 at Papillion La Vista High School while substitute teaching .  Jason then moved back to his home town Lexington where obtained a high school strength and (more…)

Ace Justin

Ace Justin comes to Desert Vista by way of Horizon high school. As the Wide Receiver coach and Pass Game Coordinator. Ace has coached for the past 8 years, helping athletes get state wide recognition, as well as athletic scholarships from Division 1 to NAIA. Steve Huber

Steve Huber enters his 2nd season with Thunder Football in 2021, serving as the Linebackers Coach.  A native of North Dakota, Coach Huber and his family moved to Ahwatukee in 2020.  Prior to arriving at Desert Vista, Coach Huber was the Defensive Coordinator at Fargo Shanley (2017-2019) and Fargo South (2015-2016) compiling a 38-13 record, including an undefeated state championship season in 2018.  Steve and his wife Christy have been (more…)

Derek Kennard Jr.

Desert Vista Alumni Class of 2000. Was Two way starter for desert vista helping capture the schools first State Championship Title in 1998. His All-State honors helped him Get a scholarship to the University of Nevada of Reno from 2000-2003, where he was a 4 year Starter As well as All Western Athletic Conference 3 of 4 of those years. Derek pursed his professional Career as he was in camp an on the Practice squad with the Indianapolis colts in 04 he also played in the CFL Canadian football-league in 2005. (more…)

Sean Morin

Coach Morin has been coaching football for 19 seasons in the Tempe Union High School District.  Coach Morin began his coaching career in 2003 at Marcos de Niza High School.  After coaching for 13 years at Marcos de Niza, which included 3 years as the Head Coach, Morin transferred over to Desert Vista to continue his teaching and coaching career.  He has been coaching as the Offensive Coordinator for the Varsity Team at Desert Vista since 2017.  Coach Morin’s coaching career includes leading the 2015 Marcos de Niza Football Team that went 12-3, earning the  (more…)

Colin Poe

Coach Poe enters his 13th season coaching high school football and his 1st with Thunder Nation.  He is in charge of coaching the Varsity Tight Ends and H-Backs. He comes to Desert Vista after spending last year as Varsity Wide Receivers coach and Special Teams Coordinator at St. Mary’s. Previous to St. Mary’s he was the Varsity Receivers coach at Desert Edge for 8 seasons, as well as 2 seasons as JV offensive coordinator.  During his time at Desert Edge he has sent receivers to NAU, Northern Colorado, Montana St., Adam’s St., (more…)

Last year, I coached the Thunder 13U and 12U teams. I Have coached four years of flag football, two seasons of basketball and two seasons of youth soccer.
12-year NFL career (Cardinals, Titans and Lions), 3 pro bowls, 8 years selected team captain;
4-year letter winner at Nebraska, two-time 1st team academic all-American;
